There's been a lot of talk about the new(ish) HBO series, 'Girls'. Before it aired, the word "groundbreaking" got tossed around. Once it started airing, it got hit with accusations of racism and being a product of the 'lucky sperm club'. Then came the backlash-backlash, which can largely be summed up as 'tv has been full of racism and nepotism for a long time', and 'it's only getting picked on because it's by and about women.'

I can honestly say I've never been on a show that was so in touch with and grateful to its fans. Well deserved!

I am hugely excited to see Waiting for Godot at the Taper. Partly because it is as classic as theater gets, partly because it's a privilige to be able to see Alan Mandell and Barry McGovern play Beckett, and partly - ok, mostly - because Hugo Armstrong is my friend, and it makes me totally giddy that he's doing this role in this show with these people.

Without giving too much away, I arrive home to find the place crawling with your favorite LAPD officers - and to some bad news about my son. A certain key character had better hope I don't find out what really happened...

I'm happy to report that I booked my first audition of 2012 - a role on Southland. There will be some tears and a gunshot, and that's all I'm saying.

It's a great show, and this episode will be directed by Allison Anders, whose work I've admired for years - so I'm extra excited.

Happy 2012 everyone!

It sounds like a lot of people were happy to see 2011 go - but don't we always feel that way?

For yours truly, 2011 was a big year. I got married, worked with Timothy Olyphant, performed for sold-out houses at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, and spent 2 weeks in South Africa. So you won't hear me complaining. Just a hearty, "MORE PLEASE!" for 2012.

Speaking of my Justified co-star, Season 2 comes out today on DVD and BluRay. If you don't watch it for me, watch it for Margo Martindale's Emmy-winning and totally incredible season-long performance. Some of the best acting tv has seen in a long time, I say.

I hope you and yours had a fantastic holiday season, and that you're as happy as I am to take the lights down and get back to business!

Scrubs - 10/7 @ 9pm on TVLand

I run a kennel... But not for animals. It's an idea they'd been holding on to for several seasons, and I got the offer without an audition. Love those!

Gilmore Girls - 10/9 @ 11am on ABC Family

One of the few shows that would being back actors to play different characters. This was my first appearance - I showed up again two seasons later as Ann the Gilmore's Accountant, opposite it-girl Melissa McCarthy.
